Hey loves! Postpartum shedding and a severely itchy scalp had reared its ugly head a few months ago. I had been using Raw African Black Soap on my youngest son hair to toe for his severe eczema and had great results. I decided to give it a try on my hair! Raw African Black Soap is a great natural remedy for dandruff, itchy scalp, rashes, psoriasis and of course eczema! It’s also hypoallergenic, vegan and has NO EXPIRATION DATE! Before I get into my results, here are some major benefits of using Raw African Black Soap on natural hair.
Raw African Black Soap or “black soap” has so many natural cleansing properties for the hair and skin! Some of them include:
- antibacterial
- anti-oxidant
- anti-fungal
- antiseptic
- anti-inflammatory
- antiviral
This is CRUCIAL for healthy hair and skin! These cleansing properties rid the scalp of problem causing bacteria and product build up that can clog pores and follicles. When hair follicles and pores are clogged they can become a breeding ground for pesky scalp conditions and hinder hair growth. Black soap also has the unique ability to removes excess oils from the scalp and hair, without removing essential natural oils in our scalp and on our hair. This helps our strands to retain moisture and reduce excessive dryness and damage. Black soap is also a natural source of vitamins A and E which are essential for maintaining strong healthy hair and skin (increases elasticity).
Did you know that black soap is also a gentle exfoliant? Exfoliants give us a deep invigorating clean feeling from free radicals while revealing rejuvenated hair and skin. Black soap also contains iron oxides and it has numerous natural healing properties.
Raw African Black soap’s ingredients are highly beneficial for both hair and skin! They include:
- All-Natural Shea Butter – Highly moisturizing, rich in Vitamins A & E, it has been proven to repair skin damage.
- Palm Oil – High in antioxidants and great for improving acne, eczema and burns.
- Coconut Oil – Locks in moisture, helping to reduce wrinkles.
- Cocoa Pod – Great anti-inflammatory properties that go to battle for your skin against free radicals.
- Plantain Skin Ash – Great moisturizing & exfoliating properties.
My Experience Using African Black Soap On My Natural Hair
I noticed my hair has been THRIVING since cleansing my hair with black soap! I’ve coupled this cleansing method with another daily scalp regimen (details on that coming soon) and my hair has never been healthier! My curls and coils are shinier, bouncier and easier to manage. I’ve also found that I’m experiencing much less shedding. In fact, my hair is the longest it’s ever been since returning to natural hair almost 8 years ago! My itchy scalp is pretty much non-existent as well.
When it comes to using black soap on natural hair the benefits are endless. It’s great for all ages, hair types and skin types! The best part is that no mixing or prepping is required to use it!
