3 DIY Organic Exfoliating Lip Scrubs

I know, it sounds crazy but winter is just around the corner. These cooler temps bring bitter winds that can dry out our skin and hair. I’m a huge fan of exfoliating my skin year round but one body part we all tend to neglect is our lips. They get chapped, cracked and bleed when they lack moisture. If you want your lipsticks and lip stains poppin’ you’ve got to show your lips some TLC! I’m a huge advocate of affordable DIY beauty so here are 3 easy DIY recipes for an organic exfoliating lip scrubs to reveal soft, supple and healthy lips while saving you some coins year round.

Honey Sugar Lip Scrub:

  • 2 teaspoons raw dark brown sugar (you can use any sugar).
  • 1 teaspoon honey.
  • 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil or almond oil.

Instructions:

Step 1: Mix almond oil and honey together.

Step 2: Add the brown sugar (or sugar of choice) and mix until well combined. You always want more sugar than oil.

Step 3: Transfer your homemade lip scrub to a small mason jar.

Tip: Remember, 75% sugar/25% oil. Raw, organic honey contains the most health benefits since it has not been pasteurized. Pasteurized honey has lost all of its nutrients from being heated. This scrub will leave your lips extremely soft. The hint of almond oil also provides a bit of extra moisture & sun protection with a natural SPF of 5.

Olive Oil Sugar Scrub

  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil.
  • 2 tablespoons raw organic honey.
  • ½ cup organic dark brown sugar.

Instructions:

Step 1: Using a spoon, mix the olive oil and honey together.

Step 2: Add brown sugar (or sugar of choice) and mix until well combined.

Step 3: Transfer to a small mason jar.

Tip: Extra virgin olive oil works best because it’s lightweight enough to be absorbed by the skin without clogging pores.

Coconut Oil Honey Sugar Scrub

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil.
  • 1 tablespoon honey.
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar.

Instructions:

Step 1: Using a spoon, mix the coconut oil and honey together.

Step 2: Add brown sugar (or sugar of choice) and mix until well combined.

Step 3: Transfer to a small mason jar.

Tip: Make sure to use unrefined, virgin, organic coconut oil for optimal benefits. Also be sure to use coconut oil that’s not too runny or too solidified. A texture that’s in the middle will blend best with the honey.
