This is a product review of Adwoa Beauty. This post has been sponsored but all opinions expressed are my own.

I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a hair post. There are 2 reasons for this guys. 1st reason: nothing released lately has really peaked my interest. 2nd reason: If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Once you find something that works for you don’t you stick with it? Well, Black Friday was the day I decided to step out of my comfort zone and purchase a few new hair & beauty items. Two of those items were from Adwoa Beauty. I was recently gifted the remainder of the line and wanted to give you all my 1st impression of the entire collection.

Background

Y’all know I love to drop some facts about a brand before I get into the nitty-gritty. One of the things that peaked my interest about Adwoa (Ahh – Ju – Wuh) Beauty was their use of clean, non-toxic plant-based ingredients in all of their products. I realized a long time ago that ingredients in hair and beauty products have a huge impact on the overall health of our skin and body. Adwoa Beauty’s ingredients are mostly plant-based, non-comodegenic or non-pore clogging which means little to no breakouts. The line’s use of ingredients such as spearmint oil, peppermint oil, wintergreen oil, aloe leaf juice, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, nettle, babaob oil, pumpkin seed oil & many more all aid in a healthy scalp which promotes healthy hair growth. Many of these ingredients also dupe as holistic treatments for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema!

My Thoughts

I kept hearing a ton of good things about Adwoa Beauty online so figured I’d give it a shot. I originally ordered the  Baomint™ Curl Defining Cream & Baomint™ Conditioning Leave-In Styler.

Technique Is Everything

Which do you prefer? Gel or Curl Cream results?

Unfortunately, the first time I tried it I didn’t have great results but I refused to give up after just one try. Majority of the time, styles gone wrong are more about technique than product. I decided to pay attention to how I was applying the products. I would usually style my hair in the shower by plopping product in 3-4 medium to big sections, rake through, scrunch and be on my way. This line is huge on moisture so many of the products (exception of the shampoo and baomint oil) have a medium to thick density. I initially put way too much product in my hair. You really don’t need a lot of it because a little truly goes a long way. I also needed to style in smaller sections in order to achieve the style I desired.

Leave-In Styler + Curl Defining Cream

Once I got my styling technique down my hair and curls looked AMAZING! I was thrown off a bit while my hair was drying. Well, child, let me tell you! Adwoa Beauty’s Baomint™ Curl Defining Cream & Baomint™ Conditioning Leave-In Styler combo had me FLOORED. My hair felt like my hair from the start! Just soft, supple, fluffy yet defined curls and coils. I had the urge to apply more cream since my hair was so soft but I’m glad I held back. adwoa beauty, adwoa beauty review, adwoa beauty reviews, plant based hair products, vegan hair products, black owned hair products, vegan natural hair products, healthyhairtotoe, healthy hair to toe, beauty blogger, black beauty bloggers, green beauty blogger

Baomint™ Curl Defining Gel

I’m a gel girl all the way. In all my years of styling my hair, I’ve never come across a gel like Adwoa Beauty’s Baomint™ Curl Defining Gel. This gel is EXTREMELY dense and thick. It took me about 3 tries before realizing I was using way too much of it while styling my hair. I ended up using less than a dime-sized amount. I usually use gel-based stylers so I’m so used to a super defined and a somewhat crunchy feel while my hair is wet. Once my hair dried I would usually scrunch to remove the gel cast & definition would be instantaneous. In a weird way, my hair wouldn’t feel like my hair until this process was done. This gel left no stiffness, crunch or flakes! Just elongated and defined curls, coils & kinks! I notice the gel didn’t leave my curls as defined as the cream but that is probably due to the elongation. Very pleased either way!adwoa beauty, adwoa beauty review, adwoa beauty reviews, plant based hair products, vegan hair products, black owned hair products, vegan natural hair products, healthyhairtotoe, healthy hair to toe, beauty blogger, black beauty bloggers, green beauty blogger

Baomint™ Moisturizing Shampoo

Real talk, I don’t buy shampoo anymore. Ever since I started using Raw African Black Soap and Castille Soap two years ago I haven’t felt the need to purchase shampoo. Adwoa Beauty’s Baomint™ Moisturizing Shampoo is LIT. adwoa beauty, adwoa beauty review, adwoa beauty reviews, plant based hair products, vegan hair products, black owned hair products, vegan natural hair products, healthyhairtotoe, healthy hair to toe, beauty blogger, black beauty bloggers, green beauty bloggeradwoa beauty, adwoa beauty review, adwoa beauty reviews, plant based hair products, vegan hair products, black owned hair products, vegan natural hair products, healthyhairtotoe, healthy hair to toe, beauty blogger, black beauty bloggers, green beauty bloggerIt’s extremely moisturizing and packed with essential oils that your scalp will welcome with open follicles! See what I did there?..lol. The first 2 ingredients of this cleanser are water and pure aloe leaf juice. Y’all know aloe leaves are a staple in my holistic beauty and health regimen. If not, you can read more about aloe here and watch my video here 🙂

Guess what? Aloe contains proteolytic enzymes which repairs dead skin cells on the scalp. It works as a great conditioner leaving hair soft and shiny. Aloe also promotes hair growth and naturally relieves scalp conditions, itching and dandruff.

My hair felt so soft after cleansing that I contemplated whether I actually needed to add a deep conditioning treatment. This is great for me since there are times my hair just needs a leave-in after cleansing and I’m good to go. It also helped detangle my matted hair prior to deep conditioning, more about this below.

Baomint™ Deep Conditioning Treatment

Initially, my hair was matted from sitting in a bun for over a week past my usual wash day. I know I’m not the only one that does that!..lol. I thought about doing a pre-poo with coconut oil to remove my tangles but decided to take the plunge and detangle after washing ::insert gasps here::. adwoa beauty, adwoa beauty review, adwoa beauty reviews, plant based hair products, vegan hair products, black owned hair products, vegan natural hair products, healthyhairtotoe, healthy hair to toe, beauty blogger, black beauty bloggers, green beauty blogger

I swear, there must be single strand knot fighters in Adwoa Beauty’s deep conditioner. It’s like they pre-unraveled themselves! Detangling was a breeze (less than 5 minutes). The spearmint oil made my scalp feel like it was getting its own spa treatment. I immediately felt a minty cooling sensation in my scalp, like a breath of fresh air! Thanks to the biotin (protein), my hair felt a lot stronger after rinsing. This is crucial for me since I have fine hair & I’m still dealing with a bit of postpartum shedding. I opted to let this treatment sit on my hair & scalp for an hour without steam or heat. Using either will definitely enhance the benefits of this deep conditioning treatment. adwoa beauty, adwoa beauty review, adwoa beauty reviews, plant based hair products, vegan hair products, black owned hair products, vegan natural hair products, healthyhairtotoe, healthy hair to toe, beauty blogger, black beauty bloggers, green beauty blogger

Tip: Keep in mind, this treatment is more of a moisturizing protein treatment. Use this treatment when your hair is in need of both increased elasticity and moisture.

Baomint™ Oil Blend

I’m a huge fan of JBCO, argan oil and sweet almond oil for skincare and hair care. Baomint™ Oil Blend from Adowa Beauty has officially been added to my hair/skin oil arsenal. It’s key ingredients are pomengranate , sweet almond, rosemary and lemongrass oils. This blend of high quality oils work together to nourish, strengthen and enhance shine of every last curl, coil and kink on your head. The proof is in the hair. It’s lightweight and absorbs quickly making it a godsend for those with fine hair & sensitive skin.

Day 3 results with Adwoa Beauty!

I added Baomint™ Oil Blend to my Baomint™ Deep Conditioning Treatment for a boost of hydration, strength and shine. This combo definitely took things up a notch! I’ve also been using this oil blend as a daily shine enhancer & scalp treatment before bed.

Final Thoughts

Hands down, I will be purchasing Adwoa Beauty products regularly. I am beyond pleased with the line, it’s use of clean & non-toxic ingredients and the transparency of this brand. More importantly, Adwoa Beauty stands behind helping women of all hair types achieve a wash and go and embrace their God-given hair type.
